Tutorial on using cPanel’s Zone Editor

With Zone Editor, you can do a lot of things, which are the most common ones. In the following, we will provide some explanations for them. Please come along with us.

Link to a download website

If you have a download host, you should do some steps to connect it to the main website. In the first step, you must order the download host with the subdomain. This subdomain can be dl.yourdomain.com to enter your website address instead of yourdomain.com. After registering an order in the account information, there is a download IP, which should be entered into and created at the host’s website by A Record.

To do this in the your host cPanel, follow these steps:

  • Login to the cPanel
  • Click Zone Editor in the DOMAINS section
  • Click on A Record + for the desired domain
  • Enter the desired record in the Name field
  • Enter the IP address of the download in the Address field
  • Click Add an A Record

After a while, the download will be available with the address.

Child Host Definition

When a domain requires dedicated DNS and is called as the Owner or Provider, it needs this functionality and the definition of the record. It should be noted, however, that the primary child host is run on the domain controller, and at the end it is confirmed by creating the registry. How to create a child host is similar to a host connection to a download host and is done with the A Record. The only difference is that it usually requires two to four records for the Child Host.

Define confirmation and authentication keys

These items are often created by default by the DNS Server. This is to say that, the email is sent from the dominant owner of the domain and can be verified.

Define or change the default prefix

As you know, www is the default prefix for all websites on the web. You can define or change this value by using the Zone Editor. Other values can also be added with the CNAME record.

Change the time units of the records

Records time units are usually automatically detected and adjusted. If you need to change the time units of the registers, you must click on the Manage option in the Zone Editor page, and then use the Edit option to make changes. It should be noted that these cases are very sensitive and do not make any changes if you do not have the necessary technical knowledge about them.
