Kiuloper’s web development pathway
The notoriously common misconception about web development services is that the design process is limited to coding and design, However, the process of designing and developing a strategy for building a new and different website, from project acceptance to final delivery, is divided into several stages.
Graphic design and coding are just two parts of this 7-step process. It can be said that coding is the mastermind of the website and the graphic design of its beating heart, but the design process goes beyond these two parts. All parts of the process, such as the vital organs of the body, must work together in harmony.
In this article, we will present to you the process of providing web development services in 7 steps. We assure you that after reading this article, your view of designing a new website and visiting a web development company will change.
1. Understanding the project and its purpose
Identifying and targeting is the first and most important part of the web development process. To complete this step, the information we receive from the client (you) will be very important.
In our first client meeting and a follow-up to our free consultation session, we strive to achieve the goal of launching a new website and audience persona by asking targeted questions to get a better view of the business. Some of the most important questions at these type of meetings are:
- What is your main goal of having this website?
- What are the most important products and services you intend to offer?
- Who is your target audience?
- What do visitors do on your website? How can they get in touch with you?
- What are your most important distinction and superiority over your competitors?
- Have you had any website setup and management experience in the past?
Selecting the destination is the first step in walking each route. If we do not know where we are going to go, choosing the path does not make sense. If we ignore this step, the project is likely to go astray and not reach the ultimate goal that the client wants.
2. Proposal writing and project implementation document
After meeting the client and understanding the needs of the client, internal meetings are held with Kiuloper’s team, and suggestions and ideas are then collected to help make an outstanding website.
After reviewing the team’s suggestions and competitor analysis, the project manager designs a standardized and functional structure for the various features and sections of the website and incorporates all technical capabilities with detailed descriptions in the project proposal.
Finally, due to the complexity of the website’s features and graphics, an accurate estimate of the project’s time and cost will be added to the proposal. The careful writing of the proposal specifies the boundaries of the design process and the timing of the web design process.
Failure to pay attention to this stage will cause our perceptions of the project to be different from the expectations of the client and lead to inconsistencies in the design and implementation process. Experience has shown us that the more time we spend on better understanding the project and writing the proposal, the more likely we are to have the chance to satisfy the client and provide a professional service.
A detailed proposal is the executing document of the project and ensures the parties’ commitment to the commitments.
3. Branding – Visual identity and content preference
In the previous two stages, the overall structure of the website and its most important pages have been identified and approved by the client. In this step, all the visual elements of the brand are first received from the client and identified by holding expert meetings of the primary priorities in visual design and content presentation. After a couple of in-house meetings, the web design team produces two graphic documents for the purpose of the project:
1- Mood Board
The choice of the main colour, complementary colours, fonts and text size virtually identifies the website’s visual identity and prevents any divergence or redesign of the pages in subsequent steps.
2- Content Priority Art Board
This document outlines the structure of the presentation of the content and elements of the homepage. Using Content-First design techniques, we try to prioritize user experience and access to content as the primary visual design. The image below is a small section of the artboard provided for one of the projects.
These two steps are sent to the client with additional explanations and their points of view are received to confirm or improve them. After confirming the visual identity and content priority, the process of graphic design of the homepage and interior pages of the website begins.
4. Graphic design of the homepage and interior pages
Graphic design of the homepage of the website can be considered the most attractive part of project implementation. One of the most famous skillsets of Kiuloper is its design, creativity and ability to create magic.
This step is not a complicated task with the proposal, visual identity and content priority of the website, and it is only the creativity and attention to detail that make the end result appealing.
Website design is very different from other graphic design elements such as billboards, catalogues, tractors and more. In the process, paying attention to the user experience when using the website, how to deliver content on the mobile, the programming language constraints in executing the layout, maintaining the page speed and low volume, and many more will be crucial to the ultimate success of the project.
The final output is made available to the client in the form of a file and at the specified address, at which point their views on all the details and graphic elements on the page are obtained. The graphic design may be approved by the client at the first presentation and may enter the coding phase or may require further sessions and graphical modifications to parts of it.
After receiving valuable client feedback and reaching a final version for the graphic design of the website’s home page, the design process for the internal pages begins and the coding team begins their work on the home page and website administration panel.
5. Website coding in accordance with SEO standards
Providing website design services alone cannot guarantee the client’s success in this digital world. Paying attention to audience and user experience alongside observing SEO standards in coding are two important principles for internet marketing and user conversion.
Up to this point, the recognition of the personnel and the user experience have been well done and now the webmaster technical team is working to implement this project by coding it out. The final output is fully compliant with the approved graphic design and implemented in accordance with SEO standards. Some of many of these principals are:
- Correct use of HTML tags
- Responsive design and proper display on mobile and tablet
- High speed and fast loading of web pages
6. Testing, checking and quality control
After the design and development phase of the website is completed, it is necessary to test the product before delivering it to the customer. The web support team monitors the performance of various versions of the project on the desktop and mobile and performs the content entry process for several products and articles to identify and resolve any issues that are left unnoticed by the technical team.
After this step, the website will be loaded into a sample storage space and submitted to the client for final submission and further testing.
7. Client training and launch!
It is time for the client to see the result of the efforts of the teams involved in the project. In a session on the administrative processes and all sections of the website’s admin panel, the client is instructed and trained on how to use the website.
The client will have the opportunity to review how the website pages and the admin panel perform and function and resolve any ambiguities or questions with the help of Kiuloper’s support team. Whenever the website has the client’s approval, it is time to launch it! This process usually is just a data transfer process that takes less than 24 hours, with the latest SEO and security measures in place, and we are up and live!
Of course, this is not the end of cooperation! Special support is provided for three months for a quick response in the technical support and troubleshooting. We are always here for our clients! so our support is always there for them.
Order is the key to success in providing a great service
The key to properly implementing and developing a website is to consider the relevance and integration of the various stages of the process. What does this sentence mean?
People involved in every step of the web development process should have complete information about the previous steps. For example in designing an online store, the design department manager should be in the process of “defining the content structure and site map” and the technical manager must have received complete design information in addition to reading the proposal before starting coding.
Given the variety of projects and the role of creativity in design and implementation, there are no online tools or platforms to manage this complex process. Kiuloper has designed a dedicated tool for communicating with clients and providing documentation at every stage of the project by standardizing project implementation stages, which is the bridge of communication with the client for better project execution.
