Risk of Not Backing Up Your Website Information

Need help with your website or have a new business idea? We can help you all.

Losing website information for any reason could be a horrible nightmare for us, but we should know that preventing this from occurring is so simple that you can do it today and can keep protecting website information forever. In the following, we will teach you how to lower the risk of losing your website information to zero.

Steps to be taken

  • Full backup of the information in the host
  • Download Full Backup Package from host
  • Full-Backup on Personal PC
  • Encrypt and zip the full-backup package
  • Fully backup uploaded to web hosting services

Full backup of website information

It’s possible that we can take full advantage of the information in the host and make a full backup. The database, website files, emails, and all of them are in full backup to be used when needed. This can be done through your cPanel > backup

Download full backup package from host

After the backup, the full-backup file is stored on the home-host path, which we need to download. If the backup file size is high, we suggest that you temporarily move it to public_html and change its access level to 644. This allows you to download the full backup file directly at a higher speed.

But if the backup file size is not high, it is recommended to download from the same home path. However, in both cases be sure to immediately delete the file from the public_html path immediately after the download, or move it to the home by changing the access.

Full backup on personal PC

After downloading the full backup, you can store it on your personal computer. To be more reliable, it’s possible to burn this file on a CD or DVD to make sure it stays safe. Note, however, that the file name should not be changed at all. Because it will not be valid for restoring to the server.

Encrypt and zip the full-backup package

For more security, and if the backup file is not available to other people that can use it, you can zip the file again and put a password o it. In this case, it can also be uploaded to web hosting services as no one can access the actual file at this point.

Fully backup uploaded to web hosting services

Another great way to keep sensitive information is to use file maintenance and sharing services. Services like Google Drive, DropBox, etc.
